SoleRebels: Når Etiopien løber
Because we can no longer consume without thinking about the future of the earth and its people, there is SoleRebels. This company was founded in 2005 by Alemu Tilahum Bethléem aims to design eco-friendly, ethical, and fair fashion with an objective that is close to the heart of it's founder: create employment in the community where, up until then, their expertise and experience was underutilised. Based at 2,600 metres in altitude high up in the Ethiopian plains, Sole Rebels is today a company that employs 40 people who benefit from a salary that is above the country's minimum wage. But the company's commitment doesn't stop there! Traditionally designed from traditional Ethiopian fabrics and recycled tyres, Sole Rebels shoes reflect the values of a developing country with targeted advertising on the Internet, agreements that allow them to export to the United States without additional taxes, and a factory that uses solar energy along with a green label that attests to the handmade design of each product.
